Forward Gear leg attach point

Others have reached this point before (duh) but this is one of those right-of-passage points in the build process, so here are my photos of the parts.

What do you do with the gap between the plates and the cross member?

Heat them up, bend them in and weld them to the cross tube.

I used a piece of 090 4130 to fill the gap.
