Hatz classic ailerons

I am starting to build Hatz classic serial number HC-338. I am 1/2 way through building wing ribs. I have 2 questions. First in the wing walk area the spruce span wise strips look like they they are 3/16 thick and 5/8 inches deep. This seems very minimal. Am I correct on the dimensions?
Second is there a reason other than looks to build Aluminum ailerons? I find the wood ailerons like the CB1 has to look just as good. I feel they would be less work to build and perhaps lighter. What are the thoughts on the ailerons?
Thanks,
Jim

I made my beams from 3/16" plywood x 1" deep. I attached my as-built drawing. My blog for the wing walk construction is here: http://myhatz.blogspot.com/2017/11/2017 ... stuff.html

I think the aluminum ailerons are a copy of the Waco as is the curve in the back of the wing walk. I copied some stuff from the CB1 plans for my build. Worth the $100 to get the CB1 plans.

The Hatz CB-1, Hatz Classic, Hatz Bantam, and Kelly-D plans all are $300 each (Fall 2024) - still a great deal. The Hatz CB-1 plans are the originals that the others are based on and are very complimentary for use with the Hatz Classic and Hatz Bantam builds.
